Section 01

Who we are

Plentiful (“we”, “us”, “our”) is a missionary partner platform based in South Africa, operated at www.plentiful.co.za. We are the “responsible party” under the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA) and the “controller” under the EU/UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) for the personal information described here.

If you have any question about this policy or your information, reach us through the contact form below. It goes straight to our Information Officer.

Section 02

Information we collect

We only ask for what helps us walk with you well:

  • Account details — your name, email address, phone / WhatsApp number, and a password (stored only as a secure hash by our authentication provider).
  • Partner profile — country, city, church, occupation, mission experience, nations of interest, how we met, who referred you, your chosen partnership level, prayer interests, and communication preferences.
  • Your birthday — so we can celebrate with you.
  • What you share with us — prayer requests, testimonies, written and audio blessings, discipleship and outreach sign-ups, and requests for giving details.
  • Technical information — IP address, browser type, and basic server logs needed to keep the platform secure and working.
  • Optional analytics — only if you allow it in your cookie preferences (see below).

We do not knowingly collect special personal information (such as health details) unless you choose to include it in a prayer request. When you do, we treat it with the utmost care and only use it to pray for you.

Section 03

How we use your information

  • To create and look after your partner account and verify new partners.
  • To send you field updates, prayer alerts, and invitations that match your partnership level and preferences.
  • To pray for you, respond to your requests, and celebrate milestones like birthdays.
  • To share banking details when you ask for them, and acknowledge gifts.
  • To keep the platform secure, prevent abuse, and meet legal obligations.
  • With your consent only: to understand, in aggregate, how the site is used so we can improve it.

Lawful basis. We rely on your consent (which you can withdraw at any time), on the performance of our relationship with you as a partner, on our legitimate interest in running a safe and personal platform, and on legal obligations where they apply.

We never sell or rent your personal information.

Section 04

Who we share it with

Your information stays within the Plentiful family. We use a small number of trusted service providers (“operators” / “processors”) who handle data only on our instructions:

  • Supabase — secure database, authentication, and file storage.
  • Vercel — website hosting and delivery.
  • Resend — sending emails such as welcome notes and password resets.
  • Telegram — private alerts to our team when a new partner joins or a prayer request arrives.
  • WhatsApp (Meta) — only when you choose to message us or join a partner group.

We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the safety of our partners and team.

Section 05

Cookies & similar technologies

We use a small number of cookies and browser storage items:

  • Strictly necessary — sign-in session cookies from our authentication provider and a small routing cookie (pl_gate) that remembers which area of the site you can see. These cannot be switched off, because the platform won’t work without them.
  • Preferences — your dashboard theme and your cookie choices, saved in your browser’s local storage.
  • Analytics (optional) — tools such as Google Analytics that help us understand site usage in aggregate.
  • Marketing (optional) — tools such as the Meta Pixel that measure the reach of our posts.

Optional analytics and marketing tools only load after you say yes in the cookie banner. Your choice is remembered for 12 months, after which we ask again. You can change your mind at any time using the “Cookie preferences” link at the bottom of every page.

Section 06

Retention & security

We keep your information for as long as you journey with us as a partner. If you close your account, we delete or anonymise your personal information within a reasonable time, unless we need to keep a record by law (for example, records of gifts received).

Information is encrypted in transit (HTTPS) and protected by access controls, row-level security, and restricted team access. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable, appropriate measures to protect what you’ve entrusted to us, and we will notify you and the relevant regulator of any breach as the law requires.

Section 07

Your rights

Wherever you live, you may ask us to:

  • Show you the personal information we hold about you and give you a copy.
  • Correct or update anything that is inaccurate.
  • Delete your information, or close your account.
  • Stop or restrict certain uses, and object to processing based on legitimate interest.
  • Receive your information in a portable format.
  • Withdraw consent at any time (this doesn't affect what we did before).

South Africa (POPIA). You may lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator of South Africa — inforegulator.org.za.

EU / UK (GDPR). You may complain to the data protection authority where you live or work.

California (CCPA / CPRA). You have the right to know, delete, and correct personal information, and to opt out of its “sale” or “sharing”. We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising unless you accept marketing cookies, and we will never discriminate against you for exercising your rights.

To make a request, use the contact form below. We may need to verify your identity first, and we’ll respond within the time the law allows (usually 30 days).

Section 08

International transfers

Our service providers may store or process information outside South Africa (for example, in the EU or United States). When this happens, we rely on providers bound by data protection terms that offer protection comparable to POPIA and GDPR, such as standard contractual clauses.

Section 09

Children

Plentiful is intended for adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has shared information with us, please contact us and we will delete it.

Section 10

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we make meaningful changes, we’ll update the date above and, where appropriate, let you know by email or on the platform.
